Ye-ikes. If one has any doubts that something is amiss in this country look no further than this person named Kanye West. Talk about lost in America. In the old days if you said something offensive or questionable the few people that heard it would maybe shake their head or role their eyes and that would be the end of it. Not today,

Now your words can travel with light speed around the world and follow you where ever you go for the rest of your life.

This person who is famous not just because he was connected to that celebrity factory run by the Kardashians but because he apparently has some legitimate talents in his own right has a history of making some outrageous and profoundly hurtful comments. He once suggested that “Slavery was a choice.” How do you even begin to process your reaction to that comment. Not only is it spectacularly stupid beyond flat earth stupid but it is the most humiliating insult you could possibly hurl at the millions of human beings that suffered the horrors of that despicable institution.

This individual is now engaged in a verbal assault on the Jewish people. One has to wonder about someone who chooses to attack those peoples that have suffered so very greatly in human history. And with the Jewish people history has demonstrated repeatedly how verbal attacks can so very quickly unleash a dark side of humanity that can lead to horrific consequences.

This is one reason Bucky and I feel lost in our own country. What is going on. What could make someone say such things unleashing such pain and hate. If it were just this one individual you could conclude that they really need help or in the alternative that they are beyond redemption and should be permanently shunned. You could then move on and leave them by the wayside but it is not just this one person. There seems to be so much anger and hate it wears you down.

You want to believe in the kindness and goodness of humans but it is very hard. Todays world makes Lennons song “Imagine” seem sadly out of touch with reality. This is when you need a dog as your companion. Bucky is blissfully unaware of all this hate and greets everyday and everyone with hope and love. With his inspiration we will see if we can find a path forward. This will be our quest . To find how to have hope and hold to the good.And maybe, just maybe we can even change the winds that are against us so that some day they will always be at our back. Instead of imagine our song will be maybe, just maybe.
